Association Information:
The YMCA of the East Valley is a $30 million organization with over 800 employees and a growing $450,000 Annual Campaign. The service area encompasses most of San Bernardino County, the fifth-most populous county in California and the 14th-most populous in the United States.
The association is comprised of 5 branches: Redlands, Highland, San Bernardino, Licensed Childcare Services, and Camp Edwards, as well as operating over 50 childcare sites. Operations consist of a state funded preschool, 5 swimming pools, a 150 bed overnight camp, youth sports, aquatics programming with a focus on Safety Around Water (SAW), day camp, ASES/ELOP and licensed fee based and state funded childcare, the famous Great Y Circus®, and a legal aid clinic.
Under the vision and direction of the President & CEO and Association Strategic Plan, Executive Directors who are motivated by an environment that encourages innovation, and entrepreneurial leadership will thrive in this association. Executive Directors are expected to be the face of their YMCA in their local communities, leaning into community engagement. Association vision and direction also empowers Executive Directors with local decision making in a decentralized leadership structure, emphasizing ownership and accountability.
Highland Branch:
The Highland Family YMCA is a 33,000 square foot building with a $1.7 million operating budgeted. Built in 2002 and 2007, this branch operates through a unique partnership with the City of Highland. Beginning in 2006, the City contracted to the Y to operate the facility and provide recreational programs to the community. This Y operates like a typical YMCA branch and the facility includes a health and wellness area, group exercise rooms, large gymnasium, commercial kitchen, indoor pool and various classrooms for camp, childcare and various other classes.
The Highland Family YMCA, Executive Director is responsible for oversight of the operation of the Highland branch. Including, but not limited to program and membership (1,200 units) development and oversite, marketing and outreach, facilities and safety, volunteer and staff development, financial development and fundraising ($55,000 growing Annual Campaign), grant management and compliance, community relations and engagement-especially with city staff and counsel, and collaborations with community agencies, school districts, and partners. Must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous, growth focused and deadline-oriented workplace.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Executive Director will oversee the comprehensive operations of a YMCA branch, including membership services, marketing initiatives, program development, facility management, volunteer and staff development, financial strategies, and community partnerships.
